Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechatronics Engineer Technician to join our team! You will be responsible for the development and building of drive units for stage machines including power distribution and controls. This is an entry level role working within a small team to design, build, and commission all related electrical equipment used in a proprietary automated stage rigging system – from power distribution panels and transformers to signal processing equipment, programmable logic controllers, variable frequency drives, and cabling. You will research and select components, communicate with vendors, and manage inventory and lead times while directly coordinating with the Director of Automation to meet project deadlines. Key Responsibilities
- Create and improve automated systems, drives, machines, power distribution and software.
- Support the installation of both mechanical systems and controls.
- Research and implement new machinery and controls for stage applications.
- Coordinate with mechanical engineering on the design of machines and controls.
- Document all technical procedures and wiring schematics.
Required Qualifications
- Requirements: machine wiring, Drive panel wiring, Sensor wiring, VFD panel layout, High voltage/high current wiring (277/480 VAC, 100+ Amps), High frequency signal wiring (sensors, RS485, etc)
- Education: BS Mechatronics Engineering or related engineering degree programs (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical)
- Qualifications: Previous experience in mechatronics engineering or related fields a plus; familiarity with intelligent and industrial systems; familiarity with CAD or other related software; strong analytical and critical thinking skills; deadline and detail-oriented
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiar with UL 508A
- Familiar with UL 1640
- Familiar with NFPA 70
- Familiar with AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent
- Familiar with electrical testing equipment, including oscilloscopes and multimeters
