Job Description
Position Overview
As a Process Improvement Manufacturing Engineer at Rolls-Royce, you will be an integral part of the Central ME Improvement Team in Indianapolis Operations. In this role, you will utilize DMAIC methodology, lean principles, and data‐driven problem solving to drive improvements in Quality, Cost, and Delivery across multiple manufacturing facilities. This position offers broad exposure to various product lines and provides an opportunity to significantly impact operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply DMAIC, lean principles, and structured problem solving to identify, validate, and execute high impact QCD improvement projects.
- Analyze operational and business performance data to pinpoint drivers of variation, waste, and inefficiency across Indianapolis facilities.
- Facilitate cross-functional root cause analysis, kaizen events, and continuous improvement workshops.
- Conduct time studies, workflow assessments, and labor efficiency analyses to identify opportunities and validate process changes.
- Develop and deploy standard work, process controls, and waste reduction strategies that deliver measurable, sustainable improvements.
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering teams and plant leadership to align improvement priorities and replicate best practices.
- Ensure alignment of manufacturing methods with design intent through collaboration with design engineering.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of an Associate’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with 4+ years of manufacturing experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of experience, OR a Master’s degree in Engineering/Engineering Technology, OR a JR/PhD.
- In lieu of a degree, 6+ years’ experience in Machining Operations or Engineering.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications
- Accredited Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (Master Black Belt preferred; Green Belt acceptable).
- Demonstrated experience leading DMAIC and lean improvement events.
- Proven, quantifiable process improvement track record with gains in quality, cost, delivery, throughput, or waste reduction.
- Strong analytical skills including statistical analysis and performance modeling.
- Experience with PFMEA, PPAP, control plans, and process capability improvement.
- Ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing processes, tolerances, and requirements.
