Position Overview

The Traffic Safety North, Branch Chief position is a key role within Caltrans. The incumbent will perform supervisory engineering work focused on improving traffic safety in District 10 while overseeing operations across northern counties (San Joaquin, Alpine, Calaveras, and Amador). Compensation: $11,437.00 - $14,315.00. This is a permanent, full–time role with a hybrid telework arrangement based in San Joaquin County. Key Responsibilities

• Provide administrative guidance under the Office Chief, Traffic Safety.
• Supervise engineering technical work related to traffic safety functions.
• Oversee operations within the northern counties of San Joaquin, Alpine, Calaveras, and Amador.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate documentation and application submissions as required by state procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license for operating State-owned or leased vehicles.
• Submission of a detailed Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) that addresses leadership style, supervisory experience, project management with external stakeholders, and understanding of the Safe System Approach.
• Meeting all minimum qualifications as verified through education and experience, including submission of unofficial transcripts if applicable.
