Job Description
Position Overview
Join the Communications and Marketing Team! We're seeking a marketing associate to round out a team of talented, driven, and creative individuals committed to telling the story of Philadelphia’s Waterfront. As an integral part of the organization’s advertising, marketing, digital communications, and public relations efforts, you will work closely with the Content Specialist and the Marketing Specialist. Punctuality and a high level of professionalism in all aspects are required.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Content Specialist in crafting creative content (e.g. social media copy, reels, TikToks, IG Stories, memes, etc.).
- Respond to social media customer service inquiries and assist in community building online (e.g. direct messages, comments on posts, replying to tags, etc.).
- Attend priority programming events and capture content (photo, video, quotes) for use on social media and other digital storytelling platforms.
- Assist the Marketing Specialist in writing copy for marketing and promotional materials (e.g. printed collateral, newsletters, signage).
- Assist in data collection for recap reports.
- Help with social media influencer outreach and list curation.
- Collaborate on fulfillment needs including preparing giveaway items, invite lists, and materials for assorted events.
- Research new social media trends, non-traditional storytelling tactics, and promotional ideas.
- Stay updated on events in and around the Philadelphia region to help shape promotional or content strategies.
- Attend and participate in weekly department meetings to learn about promotional events, experiences, and development projects.
- Submit information on priority events and activations to local blogs and event calendars.
- Represent DRWC at marketing tables during external events as needed.
- Coordinate grassroots marketing initiatives.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Strong writing, editing, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office platforms and Google Docs.
- Video-editing skills using Adobe Creative Suite, iMovie, or CapCut (required).
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn) and related content management tools.
- Strong time management and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Professional demeanor and punctuality.
- Demonstrated interest in social media, trends, marketing, and communications strategies.
- Commitment to both contributing and learning from hands-on experience.
- Adaptability, attention to detail, creativity, and motivation.
- Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- Comfort in appearing on camera as a DRWC brand ambassador.
- Experience in volunteer work or active involvement in school clubs is a plus.
- Flexibility with work hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Access to a computer, smartphone, and reliable internet connection.
- Ability to work both in-person and remotely.
- Capability to perform physical tasks (e.g. walking, climbing stairs, lifting/carrying 25+ lbs).
Benefits & Perks
- Ideal start in early December 2025 through September 7, 2026.
- Approximately 20 to 25 hours per week.
- Hybrid schedule with one in-office day per week (preferably Tuesday or Wednesday) and flexibility for college or course schedules.
- Opportunity to work nights, weekends, and some holidays.
- Temporary, part-time, and seasonal position.
- Paid Position: $16 hourly.
