Position Overview

Chemical Plant Operations Technician in New Orleans, LA. PSC Group is a team‐oriented company that values safety and provides quality training. This full-time role offers a long‐term, stable career in an industrial chemical plant. The position features a 12 Hour Rotating Shift (Days/Nights/Weekends/Holidays) and excellent Compensation: Starting pay $19.00 with opportunity for advancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Vacuum Technician:
    • Perform filter change outs, leaf cleaning, and cleaning activities around filters and screens.
    • Operate a pressure washer and perform basic upkeep.
    • Assist in housekeeping activities at worksites during changeouts and cleaning.
    • Perform JSA’s and obtain necessary permits while adhering to safety measures.
    • Support the Vacuum Operator with vacuum functions, hose movements, truck maneuvering, and pre/post trip activities.
    • Communicate with the Vacuum Operator and leadership team as needed.
    • Complete any additional assigned duties.
  • Loader:
    • Clean and visually inspect railcars before transfer to ensure mechanical soundness.
    • Connect or disconnect loading arm hose for product transfer.
    • Inspect for leaks, weigh railcars, and complete required paperwork.
  • Rail Switching:
    • Examine track lists to plan railcar spotting, separation, loading, and shipment building.
    • Operate trackmobile or locomotive to safely move railcars.
    • Communicate with rail team members, leadership, and customer contacts.
    • Complete any additional assigned duties.
  • Dock Operator:
    • Coordinate with vessel personnel and facility staff during docking operations.
    • Maintain detailed dock logs in chronological order.
    • Operate crane, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical equipment, as well as manual/motor-operated valves.
    • Understand facility piping layout to ensure proper product transfer.
    • Gauge barge and retrieve product samples from vessels.
    • Complete any additional assigned duties.

Required Qualifications

  • Willingness to learn with paid on-the-job training provided.
  • May require a valid Driver’s License and/or valid TWIC card depending on work location.
  • Must be 18 years or older and legally eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must pass a drug screen, physical, and background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous military experience and proven ability to follow procedures.
