Position Overview

Join Capco as a Business Analyst - Retail Energy in Baltimore. Capco is a fully independent, global management and technology consultancy that has been delivering innovative business consulting, digital transformation, and technology services to the Finance and Energy markets for nearly 20 years. In this role, you will bridge the gap between user functionality and system developers by analyzing, designing, and documenting business architectures and IT applications. You will support client consulting engagements by gathering requirements, mapping processes, and developing proposals that align with strategic business goals.

Location: Baltimore

Salary: $94,000—$107,000 USD

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate, document, and participate in client meetings and workshops to conduct structured research and analysis.
• Develop and evaluate procedures, controls, user requirements, and functional specifications to bridge the gap between current and future states.
• Create business requirement documents (BRDs) and translate them into use cases/functional specifications for system customization.
• Gather functional requirements, document user stories, and detail business, data, application, and technology architectures.
• Design business process models and logical data models, and provide supportive standards and guidance.
• Document and address software defects while ensuring technical compatibility and end-user satisfaction.
• Propose enhancements to business processes, reports, and applications to optimize system effectiveness.
• Conduct customer interviews, produce meeting summaries, and perform market/client research and industry analysis.
• Produce high-quality consulting deliverables including proposals, presentations, and reports.
• Develop re-usable intellectual capital such as consulting methodologies, templates, blueprints, and business cases.
• Support basic scripting and project plan development as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Experience Required: 4+ years of Business Analyst experience.
• Qualifications: Proven Retail Energy experience (e.g., CIS/Billing, EDI, Customer Care, Sales, and C&I/Mass Market products).
• Qualifications: Strong business analysis skills including interviewing client executives, requirements gathering, and process mapping, along with excellent presentation abilities.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Business, or Financial Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

• Qualifications: Experience in related areas such as wholesale, settlements, utilities, or trading.
• Qualifications: Prior experience working for a management consulting firm.
• Qualifications: An advanced degree is desirable.
