Job Description

Position Overview

Virgin Galactic is seeking a highly motivated Structures Technician to support our Manufacturing team in Mesa. Guided by our values, “Safety Above All”, we manage the inherent risks in human spaceflight through our design and assembly efforts. Primary tasks include setting up assembly fixturing, drilling, fay sealing, wet fastener installation, trimming/fitting of components, and other dynamic spacecraft manufacturing operations. The role emphasizes timeliness, proper execution, and collaboration. Work Schedule: 4/10 Onsite Monday through Thursday Day Shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble composite parts and assemblies of varying complexities and sizes.
  • Utilize shop tools and machinery safely and correctly (e.g., drills, die grinders, calipers).
  • Drill various hole sizes in both composite and metal structures, including composite/metal stack-ups.
  • Work with multiple fastener types including Hi-Lite, Hi-Lok, and Composi-Lok.
  • Perform hands-on manufacturing with composite and/or metallic airframes.
  • Follow set directions and collaborate with team leaders to complete projects accurately.
  • Assist in installation, design, development, and testing processes.
  • Adhere strictly to assembly instructions and safety protocols, including FOD awareness.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve daily production goals.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a technician in an aerospace or equivalent high-reliability field.
  • Hands-on experience with aircraft manufacturing using composite and/or metallic airframes.
  • Experience in aircraft fabrication and assembly or equivalent processes.
  • Proficiency in using computer applications to follow manufacturing work instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and/or digital models.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of current manufacturing practices and a willingness to learn cutting-edge spacecraft manufacturing techniques and/or hold Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) training.
  • Familiarity with multiple types of fasteners.
  • Strong adaptability in thinking and behavior.
  • Effective and respectful communication skills.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing philosophies and tools is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented while maintaining an overall perspective.
  • Commitment to safety, including proper housekeeping, tool control, and handling of hazardous materials and chemicals.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Familiarity with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Benefits & Perks

  • Compensation: Annual U.S. base salary range of $44,554.00–$60,996.00. The base pay offered will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, location, experience, and internal equity.
