Position Overview
The Miami-Dade County Medical Department is seeking a highly motivated, senior-level professional to lead and manage the Operations Division. Reporting in a Full-Time, Regular capacity (Job ID: 94806), you will oversee the administrative functions of multiple specialized bureaus including Investigations, Indigent Cremation, Forensic Photography, Forensic Evidence Recovery, and Morgue units.
Compensation: $119,213.85 - $199,590.00 per Year – Exempt from Classified Service.
About the Medical Examiner Department: The Department provides statutorily mandated medicolegal death investigative services for Miami-Dade County residents, investigating nearly 16,000 deaths annually and collaborating with local, state, and federal agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct, supervise, and improve operations within the Division.
- Design, implement, and manage policies, procedures, and workflows to ensure efficiency, compliance, and high standards across all units.
- Coordinate assignments, track progress, and manage special projects.
- Lead departmental efforts in hurricane/emergency planning, performance auditing, and accreditation.
- Act as liaison with law enforcement, building management, the Emergency Management Department, and collective bargaining units.
- Manage communications with external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five to nine years of responsible supervisory and management experience in varied administrative work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience in senior-level operations or public sector leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams by fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
- Strong organizational, communication, and strategic planning skills.
- Ability to lead in a multidisciplinary, high-stakes environment.
- Familiarity with forensic operations, emergency planning, or government compliance.
