Job Description

Position Overview

The Medical Assistant position at Cougar Health Services is responsible for supporting healthcare providers in the examination and treatment of ambulatory patients. The role involves preparing patients and the environment for treatment, performing basic CLIA waived laboratory tests, providing patient education, and handling clerical reception functions. This permanent full‐time (100% FTE) position is overtime eligible. Online applications must be received before March 24 2025, 12:00am.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist healthcare providers with patient examination and treatment.
  • Prepare patients and the treatment environment.
  • Conduct basic CLIA waived laboratory tests as required.
  • Provide patient care and education after treatment.
  • Perform clerical reception functions and other assigned duties.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the American Association of Medical Assistants or CAHEA; OR high school graduation (or equivalent) with one year of experience providing direct patient care.
  • Washington State Medical Assistant Registered (MAR) credential submitted within fourteen days of hire; OR Washington State Medical Assistant Certified (MAC) upon hire.
  • Ability to learn and proficiently perform Medical Assistant skills as outlined in the position description.
  • Competency in Medical Assistant skills during the probationary period and annually thereafter.
  • Maintain biannual Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working as a Medical Assistant.
  • Experience in documenting and maintaining electronic medical records.
  • Experience performing laboratory test procedures, including specimen collection and equipment sterilization.
  • Experience setting up for special procedures and assisting with minor surgical procedures.
