Job Description

Position Overview

Position: Designer I based in Houston, TX at 1001 Mc Kinney, Suite 1900, Houston, TX 77002, USA. In this role you will assist throughout the design process under routine guidance, support the preparation of creative design ideas and concepts, and contribute to schematic design, design development, and construction documents. You will work as an integral member of the design team performing product research, preparing client presentation materials, and ensuring open communication with team members and leadership.

Timeline: Applications and interviews will be accepted through the end of March, and offers will be extended throughout April and May.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance throughout the design process under routine guidance, contributing to firm and project goals of excellence.
  • Support the preparation of creative and innovative design ideas, concepts, and solutions.
  • Provide design support under supervision for schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
  • Perform product research and assist the team with material selections.
  • Assist in preparing client presentation materials using design application skills and creative ideas.
  • Approach tasks creatively and complete them in an organized, timely, and consistent manner.
  • Self-check work for accuracy, omissions, and legibility and compile data to ensure document compliance.
  • Proactively ask questions and demonstrate curiosity about design and industry trends.
  • Provide support within project teams by focusing on specific detailed tasks and studio activities.
  • Participate in design reviews, charrettes, and pin-ups.
  • Maintain open communication with team members and designated team leaders.
  • Assist with coordination among partners and consultants.

Required Qualifications

  • 0-3 years of experience in design-related roles.
  • A professional degree in Architecture, Design, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling, visualization, and graphic software; Revit strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with site analysis, preliminary design studies, and field measurements.
  • Additional skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Excel, Lumion, and Rhino.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, strong attention to detail, and high motivation to learn.
  • A collaborative and professional work ethic.
  • Willingness to achieve LEED GA certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Preparation for ARE exams is expected.
