Job Description
Position Overview
The Telecommunications Technician-OCONUS at Valkyrie Enterprises is a key role supporting the installation of Telecommunication Structured Cabling Systems in Norfolk, Virginia. The position ensures industry standard compliance and adherence to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Install Telecommunication Structured Cabling Systems.
- Terminate cabling (CAT5e, CAT6, Fiber Optics, and Coaxial) in accordance with EIA/TIA standards.
- Read and interpret telecom blueprints accurately.
- Ensure proper grounding, safety standards, and NEC compliance.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of technical experience.
- Experience with installation of Telecommunication Cabling Systems and Telecom Room Build-Out.
- Expertise in fiber optic terminations (Unicam, Anarobic, fusion splicing) and UTP/STP Category 6 copper terminations.
- Familiarity with industry standards and manufacturer practices (BICSI, CommScope, Belden, CPI, Corning, Panduit, etc.).
- Proficient use of test equipment along with the preparation of site test data and documentation.
- Must be a US Citizen with a current Passport and valid Driver's License.
- Security Requirement: Must have an Active DoD Top Secret clearance or be eligible to obtain and maintain one.
- Must be able to meet extensive travel requirements (over 95% travel, including international/domestic airfare, extended hotel stays, and obtaining REAL ID when needed).
- Physically capable of performing tasks such as climbing, stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs under varying environmental conditions.
- Ability to work independently or with limited supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- BICSI Technician or Installer Certification.
- Manufacturer Installer Certifications (CommScope, Corning, Belden, etc.).
- At least 2 years' experience specifically with the installation of Telecommunication Cabling Systems.
