Position Overview

Metropolitan Air Technology (MAT) is seeking a technically strong, commercially driven Inside Sales Engineer to support our growing OEM, Rep, and Distribution channels. This role is responsible for estimating projects, developing technical proposals and quotations, and acting as the technical bridge between Engineering, Operations, and Sales.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating & Quotation Development

  • Review project plans, specifications, and submittals
  • Perform accurate takeoffs and damper selections
  • Develop detailed, margin-aligned quotations
  • Coordinate with Engineering for custom applications
  • Ensure compliance with UL, AMCA, and applicable codes

Technical Product Application

  • Fire & Smoke Dampers
  • Blast Dampers
  • Pressure Relief Dampers (PRVs)
  • Control Dampers
  • Economizer Dampers

Commercial Support

  • Partner with Sales and Product Management
  • Support OEM pricing strategies and margin discipline
  • Improve quote turnaround speed and hit rate
  • Support value engineering (VAVE) initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree: in Mechanical Engineering (Required)
  • 2–5+ years of HVAC or air distribution experience
  • Strong understanding of airflow and HVAC fundamentals
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and specifications
  • Strong Excel and estimating skills

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in the HVAC damper market
  • Experience at an HVAC Rep Firm, Equipment OEM, or Damper Manufacturer
  • Familiarity with UL555 and AMCA standards

This role is designed as a feeder into Sales Manager, OEM Sales Executive, Product Manager, or broader Commercial Leadership roles within MAT.
