Job Description

Position Overview

The Radiology Technologist will work in a Level II trauma hospital setting at the Rapid City, SD USA location, in the RCH MIS General department. In this role, you will perform radiology examinations under the direction of a Radiologist, operate all radiological equipment, and provide patient-focused care in a variety of settings including pediatric, geriatric, and critical acute care.

Compensation: $25.62 - $32.03 (Determined by the knowledge, skills, and experience of the applicant.)

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of patient positioning, digital radiography (DR), fluoroscopy, quality control, and image processing.
  • Review patient’s condition, history, and physician orders while consulting the Radiologist when needed.
  • Prepare patients and equipment, educate patients and family members regarding procedures, and ensure proper exam execution.
  • Administer contrast using aseptic techniques and document procedures accurately in patient records.
  • Collaborate with other imaging departments to coordinate patient care and manage patient scheduling efficiently.
  • Provide a supportive learning environment for clinical students and participate in the continuing technical education of staff.
  • Adhere to infection control and radiation safety protocols to protect patients and staff.
  • Maintain exam room presentation, manage patient transportation, report equipment malfunctions, and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED and graduation from an accredited Radiology Program.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification by the American Heart Association (within 60 days of hire) and Radiologic Technologist (RT) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year of radiography experience.
  • ARRT certification is preferred.
  • Note: Policy Number MIS-7040-115 – Caregivers must be BLS certified upon employment or within their 90-day probation period.
