Outreach Community Educator (English/Spanish Bilingual) – Fresno, CA | Job ID 80057
University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources is seeking a committed professional to join the F3 Local team. The F3 Local Bilingual Outreach Community Educator (Community Education Specialist 2) plays a vital role in supporting small-scale farmers and food businesses through outreach and education. Working under the direct supervision of the Regional Director of Local Farm and Food Innovation, you will engage the Spanish-speaking community throughout Fresno, Madera, Merced, Kings, and Tulare Counties to improve access to resource materials, workshops and technical support.

This is a contract appointment that is 100% fixed. Pay Scale: $21.65/hour to $28.78/hour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and conduct bilingual educational activities in both English and Spanish. Assist in delivering new course materials to support small-scale farms and food micro-enterprises, while enhancing existing tools for regulatory compliance, market access, production, and resource navigation.
  • Support the coordination, promotion, and delivery of extension workshops in collaboration with the F3 Local team and partners. Topics may include scaled technologies, food safety and compliance, and licensing for small-scale food businesses; track participant feedback and help refine curricula.
  • Provide bilingual support for F3 Local staff working with farmers and micro-businesses across the region. Participate in farm visits, events, and community outreach, represent the team in meetings with nonprofit partners, public agencies, and policy stakeholders, and contribute to new partnership opportunities and strategy evaluations.
  • Plan and implement outreach strategies to engage socially disadvantaged and Spanish-speaking farmers. Maintain accurate contact databases and lead communications via radio, social media, newsletters, and direct outreach.
  • Represent the F3 Local team in meetings with nonprofit partners, public agencies, and policy stakeholders, sharing insights on community needs and contributing to collaborative planning.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree and/or equivalent certification, experience, or training.
  • Experience planning and executing workshops, meetings, and outreach activities.
  • Ability to conduct needs assessments and make programmatic recommendations.
  • Organizational skills to develop project plans, monitor deadlines, and analyze results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging diverse audiences in bilingual (English and Spanish) settings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Community Development, Rural Studies, Agriculture, Agribusiness, or Business Administration.
  • Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities faced by small-scale farmers and food businesses.
  • Knowledge of agricultural practices, tools, and technologies suitable for small-scale farming.
  • Understanding of micro enterprise entrepreneurship and small business support.
  • Experience with digital communication tools including website management, social media platforms, and content management systems.
