Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Components Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in identifying and integrating alternative components for product designs, with a focus on cost-effectiveness and availability. You will collaborate closely with product line engineers, quality assurance, and purchasing departments to ensure seamless component integration. This position is based in our Olathe, KS office, where you will work five days a week with a dedicated team in a rapidly growing R&D aerospace equipment environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify alternate components for existing and new product designs based on cost and availability.
- Collaborate with product line engineers, QA, and purchasing departments.
- Write Engineering Change Requests (ECR) to process Product Change Notifications (PCNs) from suppliers.
- Add or block components in the existing component database.
- Conduct component-level tests to qualify new components, prepare reports, and update the part database.
- Interface with material suppliers to obtain compliance documentation and work with environmental compliance analysts to update PLM/ERP databases.
- Identify obsolete components or suppliers and develop solutions to address these issues.
- Maintain Bill of Materials (BOM), manufacturing processes, and finished goods part numbering system.
- Provide input to new designs to enhance product reliability.
- Perform reliability modeling and predictions, including Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) calculations.
- Ensure the accuracy of internal part number descriptions and add missing attributes for various components in the database.
- Perform fault analysis.
- Complete work in a timely manner, demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness.
- Continuously seek ways to improve and promote quality in work processes.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with electronic components and electrical engineering.
- Proficiency in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and electronic systems.
- Familiarity with aerospace defense technologies.
- Experience using Altium for electrical design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in any technical or science-related field.
- One or more years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Prior experience as a Components Engineer or Electrical Design Engineer is required.
