At Intramotev, we are dedicated to revolutionizing the freight industry by liberating tons of freight from congested highways, reducing carbon emissions, and enhancing transportation efficiency. We deploy self-propelled battery‐electric railcars and vehicles to transform freight logistics. As a highly experienced Mechanical Engineering Team Lead, you will guide our talented design team by providing technical direction and executing mechanical systems for our autonomous rail vehicles. Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of mechanical design engineers, overseeing their work and fostering their professional and technical development.
- Establish the technical roadmap and vision for the mechanical engineering team, aligning it with company objectives and project requirements.
- Direct the complete design lifecycle of mechanical systems—including structures, powertrains, thermal management, and braking systems—from initial concept to final production.
- Oversee the creation and review of complex 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and comprehensive structural and thermal analyses (FEA).
- Drive accountability for project milestones, ensuring high-quality designs are delivered on schedule and within budget.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for mechanical engineering while collaborating with cross-functional leaders in software, electrical, and manufacturing.
- Champion best practices in design for manufacturing (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
- Resolve challenging technical issues and make critical decisions regarding mechanical design and architecture.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- At least 12 years of experience in mechanical engineering and design for vehicles or complex industrial equipment.
- Demonstrated experience leading a team of design engineers, including performance management and career development.
- Expert-level proficiency with 3D CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, Fusion, or similar).
- Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your expertise and develop innovative approaches.
- Fluent in both written and verbal English.
- U.S. Person: Immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven track record of taking complex mechanical systems from initial concept through to successful production launch.
- Experience in directly applicable industries such as Rail, Electric Vehicles, Automotive, Aerospace, or Heavy Machinery.
- Deep expertise in advanced structural analysis (FEA), vehicle dynamics, and/or thermal management systems.
- Experience developing and managing engineering budgets and project schedules.
- Experience working across organizational boundaries and collaborating with other engineering disciplines at a leadership level.
- Experience working in Agile environments for hardware development.
