Position Overview
Salary: $108,847.44 - $126,762.48 Annually
Location: Seattle, WA
The City of Seattle's Finance and Administrative Services Department (FAS) is seeking a highly analytical and detail‐oriented Senior Finance Analyst to join the Accounting and Budget Services team. This role is responsible for critical budgetary and financial operations supporting the department and involves collaborating directly with program managers, executives, and various business partners. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of all phases of the annual FAS operating budget and the citywide budget process, including drafting budget proposals and producing in-depth analysis to support resource requests.
- Lead financial analysis on labor costs, maintain position management tracking tools, analyze personnel costs and expenditure forecasts, and assist with cost allocation models.
- Prepare regular financial reports for client leadership and advise management on budget issues to support fiscal decisions, including identifying potential financial challenges and recommending solutions.
- Participate as a key budget team partner on special projects, including budget legislation, interdepartmental financial agreements, and general ledger journal entries.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, public administration, or a related field; OR a combination of education, training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background.
- Three (3) years of professional experience performing budget or financial analysis in support of a complex organization, including a minimum of one (1) year in budget analysis, research, and/or development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience or knowledge of government budget processes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with comfort in communicating with executives.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with managing data flows across multiple financial platforms.
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently with the flexibility to manage ambiguity and changing priorities.
