Position Overview
Serve your country as a part-time physician with the Navy Medical Corps. As a Navy Physician, you will provide high-quality medical care for Sailors, Marines, service members, and their families at top military medical facilities while maintaining your civilian practice. You will have access to advanced training, leadership opportunities, and a streamlined practice environment without the typical start-up complications. Location: This position does not require relocation. Schedule: Part-time reservist with scheduled drilling and annual training periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical care by diagnosing ailments, treating injuries, and saving lives.
- Lead and collaborate with a team of military healthcare professionals, including fellow physicians and officers.
- Work across diverse environments – on shore, at sea, and in the field – to deliver healthcare services.
- Participate in humanitarian relief efforts and collaborate with international organizations such as FEMA, USAID, and Project Hope.
- Operate as a leader in your specialty, gaining valuable management experience.
- Fulfill reservist duties during scheduled drilling and annual training, often close to home during monthly drills.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy; foreign graduates may apply with a permanent certificate from the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
- Current license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico.
- Eligibility for board certification.
- Completion of at least one year of an approved graduate medical education internship.
- Between 21 and 42 years of age (waivers are granted on a case-by-case basis up to age 68).
- U.S. citizenship (non-waivable).
