Transmission Engineer, Senior (Line Engineering)

Position Overview
This position is responsible for planning and directing complex engineering projects and serves as a subject matter expert for transmission line engineering for the Cooperative. The successful candidate will provide direction for the development and implementation of standards and specifications, recommend improvements in procedures, mentor engineering staff, and ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.

Hybrid Work Options Available; this position may report to either our Johnson City Headquarters or our Transmission Offices in Cedar Park, TX depending on home location. Travel between the two locations will periodically be required.
Salary: $131,104.00 Minimum Starting Base Pay* + KPI Bonuses + Competitive Benefits. Qualifications may warrant greater starting base pay based on experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare technical specifications and analyze technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for product, process, or material specifications.
- Prepare and study technical drawings, transmission line specifications, and topographical maps to ensure installations meet standards and customer requirements.
- Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks and analysis.
- Confer with engineers, customers, and other stakeholders to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products.
- Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, documentation, and project management activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
- Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
- Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications.
- Investigate customer or public complaints, determine the nature and extent of issues, and recommend remedial measures to management.
- Oversee project production efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
- Manage the design and monitor the construction of large transmission projects to ensure compliance with engineering design.
- Represent the Cooperative in the Public Utility Commission of Texas Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) process.
- Assist with submitting potential projects to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas’ Regional Transmission Plan (RTP).
- Perform standard engineering computations and analyses.
- Prepare engineering drawings, maps, and construction specifications.
- Research material specifications and resolve basic material issues.
- Coordinate with management, consultants, members, developers, and government entities on assigned projects.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to other department engineers and serve as an engineering resource to other departments.
- Serve as a department and project leader, performing transmission planning studies and other related duties as assigned.
- Exhibit supervisory and leadership responsibilities by effectively communicating policies and guiding subordinates, including serving in a lead capacity when the manager is out of the office.
- Maintain the security of confidential information and stay abreast of advances in technology.
- Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance and perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field.
- Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.
- Ten years of related work experience.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Knowledge of using computer systems including hardware and software programs.
- Understanding of principles and processes for providing customer service.
- Familiarity with power system transmission materials, such as structures, foundations, insulators, and anchor bolts.
- Skilled in CCN and RTP processes, time management, and prioritizing changing priorities.
- Ability to lead a work team, read and understand transmission construction design drawings, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to listen attentively and resolve conflicts and problems efficiently.
