Position Overview

At M.C. Dean, we're seeking a skilled Telecom Foreman to install communications cabling and equipment in accordance with industry plans, specifications, codes, and standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize hand tools and various power tools safely and effectively
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Follow all Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Participate actively in daily safety and work briefings
  • Install various types of Low Voltage Cable
  • Manage projects involving 5 or more personnel across one or more locations
  • Collaborate with senior management and supervisory personnel to resolve work procedures, complaints, and construction issues
  • Schedule projects logically to ensure deadlines are met
  • Interpret and explain plans/specifications to field workers
  • Apply knowledge of BICSI and TIA/EIA standards for proper installation and termination procedures
  • Terminate, test, and troubleshoot Low Voltage Cabling (Fiber Optics, Cat 5, Cat 6)
  • Install various pathways, cable trays, telecommunications devices, prefabricated components, assemblies, and grounding systems
  • Train and supervise technicians/apprentices to install telecommunication systems per drawings and specifications
  • Perform Quality Assurance checks to ensure work meets all applicable requirements
  • Maintain a clean work area and participate in job site cleanup
  • Ensure possession and proper use of a full tool set based on the ITS Telecom tool list
  • Secure company tools and materials daily and manage tool inventories and inspection sign-outs
  • Ensure each crew activity is supported by complete information packages (contract drawings, shop drawings, panel schedules, cut sheets, etc.)
  • Submit daily hour/unit reports for each crew member on the established timesheet

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in the commercial communications industry
  • High School diploma or GED is required
  • BICSI Technician certification
  • Valid driver's license; may require use of a company vehicle
  • Successful completion of background check and drug test
  • Reliable transportation to and from job sites
  • Ability to pass a basic telecommunication knowledge test
  • Strong team collaboration, punctuality, and commitment to a safe work environment
  • Provide a basic tool set per the provided tool list prior to the first day of employment
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Capable of relocating a 12-foot stepladder without assistance
  • Comfortable working at heights up to 60 feet, including climbing scaffolds, aerial lifts, and ladders
  • Perform physical tasks including walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, and kneeling
  • Possess good vision (correctable), and effective hearing and communication in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional BICSI Technician certification is desirable, with willingness to obtain if not already certified
  • Manufacturer Certifications and/or Fiber Certification
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
