Position Overview

Position Title: HR Specialist
Reports to: CFO
FLSA Status: Full-time; non-exempt
Compensation: $75-$85K (annual)
Schedule/Location: M-F 8am-5pm / IN-Office KAPA

The Human Resources (HR) Specialist will support the organization in various functions including recruitment, employee onboarding, employee relations, employee records management, payroll, benefits administration, and compliance. This role ensures that the company’s HR policies and procedures are consistently followed, improves employee satisfaction, and contributes to a positive workplace environment. Additionally, the specialist serves as the Designated Employer Representative (DER) for the company’s drug and alcohol program for PT135 aviation operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the entire employee onboarding process including documentation, issuing required apparel/equipment, and maintaining accurate electronic records.
  • Administer payroll and benefits: add new hires, process monthly payroll, maintain HRIS databases, reconcile insurance billings, and handle payroll inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state labor programs (e.g., FMLA, ADA, OSHA) by updating policies, managing postings, and assisting with audits.
  • Facilitate full-cycle recruiting by managing job postings, candidate screening, scheduling interviews, and coordinating the selection process.
  • Serve as the Designated Employer Representative (DER) for the drug and alcohol program: administer testing procedures, maintain records, and coordinate employee training.
  • Support employee relations by assisting with recognition programs, wellness initiatives, and internal communications regarding HR policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of HR experience with a background in payroll administration, employee onboarding, compliance, and recruiting.
  • Displays excellent communication and interpersonal skills, is highly organized, detail-oriented, resourceful, and capable of working independently.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state labor laws and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or other HR certifications.
