Position Overview
UHealth-University of Miami Health System’s IT Department is seeking a Full-Time Director, Workday Configurations – Finance. In this role, you will lead the configuration and maintenance of Workday by partnering with functional and finance leaders to align business needs with system functionality. You will ensure compliance with University and security policies while driving process improvement and strategic financial planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Handles complex factors and develops policies, procedures, and practices without precedent.
- Plans, develops, administers, and coordinates IT projects of varied sizes and complexities.
- Collaborates with team members to understand business requirements, configure Workday, develop prototypes, assist in testing, and support the launch process.
- Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships to maximize business goal achievement while evaluating design challenges and providing actionable feedback.
- Works with project teams to identify alternative solutions, configuring integrations between Workday and third-party or custom solutions.
- Directs functional analysis and process re-design, providing requirements and final signoff.
- Serves in a technical leadership role to address product issues, capabilities, and complex deployment challenges.
- Partners on selecting tools and methodologies from scope definition to implementation, and develops strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled workforce.
- Prepares and adheres to operating and capital budgets.
- Collects user requirements, converts them into functional and technical specifications, and analyzes business problems at all levels.
- Establishes and continuously assesses internal controls within the unit and ensures compliance with University policies and procedures.
- Leads the strategic direction, architecture, and optimization of Workday Finance across the institution.
- Acts as the expert configurator for Workday Finance solutions and related integrations (e.g., expense reporting, general ledger, invoices).
- Oversees system configuration, integrations, and reporting for financial operations while collaborating with Finance and audit teams for data integrity and compliance.
- Drives automation and process improvement across financial workflows and manages the Workday Finance roadmap, release planning, and stakeholder engagement.
- Provides leadership and mentorship to financial systems analysts and project managers, monitors regulatory changes, and establishes governance for financial data and system access.
- Leads vendor relationships and contract negotiations for financial technology services.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Workday Finance leadership roles.
- Expertise in financial systems strategy, compliance, and reporting including advanced Workday Finance configuration and analytics.
- Proven experience with large-scale ERP implementations and upgrades.
- Strong strategic financial planning, systems architecture, and fiscal management skills.
- Demonstrated leadership in building high-performing teams and managing complex projects.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate a strategic vision and influence stakeholders.
- Proven ability to align departmental goals with enterprise-wide strategy and drive transformational change.
