Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a talented individual to join our Analytics Engineering team within the Data Science organization, focused on the Safety domain at Reddit. In this role, you will work closely with data scientists and cross‐functional teams to deploy robust data pipelines, drive automation initiatives, and serve as a key contributor to shaping our data foundation strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with data scientists and Safety cross‐functional teams to curate, develop, and deploy data and analytic tooling that drives Reddit’s business forward.
- Act as an effective conduit between data producers and data consumers, ensuring high data quality and reliability.
- Lead as the Analytics Engineering point of contact within the Safety organization, overseeing data quality, performance, and automation initiatives.
- Architect and enhance the collection of underlying data by creating ETLs, reporting dashboards, data aggregations, and other deliverables for business tracking and ML model development.
- Develop and maintain robust data pipelines and workflows for data ingestion, processing, and transformation while working closely with engineering teams.
- Create user-friendly internal tools to streamline data analysis and reporting processes and drive widespread adoption with a focus on automation and consistency.
- Lead transformational efforts to build a data-driven culture at Reddit by enabling effective data self-service.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and coaching to data scientists and technical partners.
- Serve as a thought partner for data scientists, engineering managers, and leadership by helping shape the data foundations roadmap and strategy.
Required Qualifications
- Experience working in a Trust and Safety domain.
- Undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline (engineering, statistics, operations research, computer science, informatics, applied mathematics, economics, etc.).
- 4+ years of experience with large-scale ETL systems, including implementation, strategy, and maintenance, with Python preferred.
- Strong programming proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, Scala, etc.
- Experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT concepts, and patterns for efficient data governance.
- Experience with manipulating massive-scale structured and unstructured data.
- Experience with data workflows (such as Airflow), front-end or back-end engineering, and data modeling.
- Experience in data visualization and dashboard design using tools like Looker, Tableau, R visualization packages, Streamlit, D3, etc.
- Deep understanding of technical and functional designs for relational and MPP databases.
- Proven track record of cross-functional execution and collaboration.
- Excellent communication skills to work with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience in mentoring junior data scientists and analytics engineers.
- A self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- M.S. or Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline.
- Past experience collaborating closely with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and product managers.
