Platform Engineer Intern – Entry Level Sales Program 2026

Position Overview

Technology sales at IBM is evolving its way of working to break beyond boundaries with innovative approaches. Preferring to 'show' vs. 'tell', we are seeking undergraduate and graduate students who want to blend technical interests with the people skills needed to prospect and co-create solutions with customers, partners, and colleagues. As a Platform Engineer intern within Client Engineering, you will join a multidisciplinary team of Architects, AI Engineers, Designers, and Business Technology Leaders. You will contribute to experiential working sessions and help build pilots that pave the way for enterprise-scale deployments at start-up speed. IBM’s Sales Internship Program will set you up for impactful success with an environment that prizes collaboration and real-world client engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Leverage contemporary hybrid cloud skills – including AI, analytics, DevOps, DevSecOps, IaC, security, networking, and storage – combined with deep industry understanding to serve a dedicated client portfolio.
• Define and communicate the differentiated value of IBM's technology from both technical and commercial perspectives.
• Participate in client sessions featuring a broad range of public and hybrid cloud technologies, such as Red Hat OpenShift, IBM Cloud Paks, and Kubernetes.
• Support the solutions architecture plan as a hands-on builder in client-facing engagements, advising on best practices and ensuring smooth transitions to deployment.
• Collaborate with deployment teams to ensure a seamless transition from planning to production deployment of platform assets and information.

• Requirements: Actively enrolled as a registered undergraduate or graduate university student.
• Education: Seeking a B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent technical field.
• Programming: Working knowledge in at least one common cloud-native programming language (such as Java, Python, HCL, Rust, Ansible, or a similar language).
• Tech Savvy: Conversant with cloud technology, current industry trends, and their applications in addressing business challenges.
• Team Player: Proven ability to collaborate effectively and navigate diverse communication styles.
• Excellent Communication Skills: Verbal, written, and interpersonal skills that are engaging, compelling, and influential.
• Self-Starter: A motivated individual capable of leading projects independently while maintaining a growth mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree.
• Experience in deploying and operating solutions on AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud, or Google Cloud.
• Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CNCF, AWS, IBM Cloud, Azure, Google Cloud, DevOps).
