Job Description

Position Overview

The Machinist Experimental role in Wichita, KS requires a highly skilled individual with diversified machine shop experience. The candidate must be adept at both manual and CNC machining operations, interpret engineering documents, and ensure all machined parts meet precise tolerances. Only qualified candidates with the required experience will be considered.

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years diversified machine shop experience and/or equivalent technical training or course work in machining or a related field
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering documents
  • Ability to calculate dimensional information for machining/machined parts
  • Ability to operate and interpret a variety of precision measurement instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators)
  • Ability to use simple or compound sine tools
  • Ability to deburr, cut, polish, blend, and smooth the surfaces of machined parts using various hand tools (e.g., grinders, deburring tools, drill, and files)
  • Basic knowledge of properties of mild steel, stainless steel, titanium, and aluminum applicable to part fabrication
  • Ability to operate machining equipment including both mills and lathes
  • Proficiency in performing a variety of manual and CNC machining operations (turning, boring, drilling, milling, tapping, and threading) to meet engineering specifications
  • Ability to build shop aid tools to enhance machining operations
