Job Description

Position Overview

At Buffalo General Medical Center in the BGMC Nursing MICU department, the Certified Medical Assistant promotes patient flow in both clinical and clerical areas. Working under the direction of a registered nurse or licensed health care provider, this role involves medical information gathering, health teaching, counseling, and supportive care in accordance with NYS Department of Health regulations and current Kaleida policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote patient flow in both clinical and clerical areas to ensure age-appropriate care.
  • Perform tasks including medical information gathering, health teaching, counseling, and supportive care.
  • Adhere to current Kaleida policies and NYS Department of Health regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates of Applied Science in Medical Office Assisting is required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant upon hire.
  • Certification/Registration required through American Association of Medical Assistants, American Medical Technologists, National Center for Competency Testing, or National Healthcareer Association; and maintain certification through the American Registry of Medical Assistants.
  • Successful completion of the basic PC Skills assessment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience in a Medical Office Setting.

  • Full-Time Work Arrangement with scheduled hours from 7a to 7p on one shift.
  • Salary Range: $24.47 - $30.98 Bi-Weekly (based on experience, qualifications, internal equity, and collective bargaining agreements).
  • Onsite work requirement with potential weekend/holiday shifts.
  • Standard Hours Bi-Weekly: 69.00 hours; FTE: 0.92.
