Position Overview

The Mechanical Engineer - Plumbing will join our Mechanical Engineering team to design and manage large, complex plumbing projects from concept through construction. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in the design and construction of plumbing systems and will serve as a trusted technical leader and mentor. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering design and documentation of large-scale, complex plumbing systems from concept through construction.
  • Approve and apply advanced mechanical calculations for system sizing, equipment selection, and performance verification.
  • Oversee the setup and refinement of Revit models for mechanical scope and standardize workflows across teams.
  • Develop firmwide modeling tools, families, schedules, details, and system templates.
  • Lead the development of control sequences and diagrams for all mechanical systems.
  • Coordinate integration of mechanical systems with architectural, structural, and civil designs.
  • Serve as the technical lead in client, consultant, and internal meetings, managing submittals, RFIs, and value engineering analyses.
  • Conduct field visits, construction observations, and produce detailed reports documenting project progress.
  • Define mechanical system strategies that align with budget, performance, maintainability, and schedule requirements.
  • Develop QAQC plans, mentor junior engineers, and champion firmwide drafting and modeling standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers and leadership on fee development, staffing strategies, and resourcing.
  • Guide responses to field conditions, code conflicts, and value engineering proposals with clarity and ownership.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) is required.
  • P.E. licensure required.
  • Proven plumbing design and construction experience.
  • Understanding of project financials, cost budgeting, and quality-focused delivery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively under deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Revit and other computer applications for word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic, flexible, and curious personality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in the AEC industry.
