Job Description

Position Overview

As a Supervisory Property Disposal Specialist, you will direct and manage the operations of a DLA Disposition Services site while providing supervision over key personnel and site supervisors. You will ensure that property disposal is executed in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Telework Eligible: Yes

Key Responsibilities

  • Directs and manages the operations of a DLA Disposition Services site and provides supervision over key personnel and DLA Disposition Services supervisors.
  • Analyzes, plans, and optimizes the utilization and management of Disposition Services business operations and resources.
  • Oversees the preparation of property for disposal in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, with particular attention to hazardous materials, environmental issues, and/or demilitarization.
  • Submits annual budget and operating plan recommendations while tracking and monitoring operating budgets, cost reduction programs, reutilization, and profit projections.
  • Directs staff in innovative approaches to resolving challenges and improving processes.

Required Qualifications

  • One year of specialized experience that demonstrates the competencies required to effectively perform the duties of the position.
  • For GS-13 qualification, one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under applicable pay systems.
  • Experience in surplus property disposition, including the disposal methods through reutilization, transfer, donation, sales, abandonment, and/or destruction, as well as coordinating contractor and outsourcing needs.
  • A background in managing aspects such as DEMIL property requirements, storage, receiving, warehousing, merchandising, business financial management, and human resource management. Relevant volunteer work may also be considered.
