Construction Technician (Entry‑level). ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician to join our Richmond team and advance in a dynamic work environment. No prior experience is needed as you will work under the guidance of experienced professionals to safely perform a variety of tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • No experience necessary, paid training is provided, and ECS covers your certification fees!
  • Salary: $16 - $20 per hour
  • Field Activities: Conduct observation, testing, and sampling of materials—including soils, aggregates, and concrete—on construction materials testing project sites; execute tasks under the guidance of senior technicians, staff professionals, and project managers.
  • Testing Procedures: Perform routine field and/or laboratory tests for soils, aggregates, and concrete using various methodologies and testing equipment in accordance with industry standards and compliance requirements.
  • Data Collection: Carry out calculations and data reduction based on sampling, test results, and inspection; assist with drafting and other administrative duties as needed.
  • Communication: Maintain daily communication with site contractors, fellow technicians, and project managers; report changing site conditions and additional testing requirements to your supervisor; participate in project meetings and help coordinate field equipment.
  • Training and Development: Receive hands-on training in ECS methodology for project observations, inspections, and testing; document findings precisely in line with accepted engineering practices.

Required Qualifications

  • No experience required.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 85 pounds.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Willingness to learn heavy construction safety practices and procedures.
  • Eagerness to obtain knowledge of CMT principles, ASTM laboratory standards, and pursue certifications in soils, concrete, and radiation safety.
  • OSHA 10 certification may be required.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work effectively with contractors, peers, and supervisors.
