Job Description

Position Overview

The Instrumentation Coordinator is responsible for preparing, sterilizing, installing, assembling, and cleaning clinic and healthcare equipment required for surgeries, examinations, and medical procedures. This role ensures that all equipment, instruments, and supplies are safely reprocessed to prevent infections, and it serves as a clinical liaison between the Operating Rooms and offsite Sterile Processing Departments. In addition, the coordinator facilitates efficient case flow through effective case cart assembly, supports process improvement projects, and manages the procurement and standardization of instrument trays across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, sterilize, install, assemble, and clean clinic/healthcare equipment for surgical and medical procedures.
  • Serve as the clinical liaison between Operating Rooms and Sterile Processing Departments to track and allocate sterilized instrumentation.
  • Coordinate daily activities to facilitate efficient case flow through proper decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical inventory.
  • Order, procure, and standardize instrument trays across multiple reprocessing sites in the enterprise.
  • Assist in projects and process improvement initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or equivalent (GED)
  • At least one year of experience as an instrument processor or Surgical Technologist
  • CRCST certification issued through IAHCSMM or CBSPD is required upon hire, or must be obtained within the first six months
