Position Overview
Valiant Solutions is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to join its rapidly growing and innovative cybersecurity team. You will work with a smart DevSecOps team delivering cutting-edge solutions for a fantastic Government client. In this role you will apply solid DevOps/SRE principles, Kubernetes expertise, and cloud security skills to help engineer and harden new and existing architectures. Key Responsibilities
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule
- Integrate with application teams as a security SME and assist with connecting to new and existing security-related tooling
- Review and advise application teams on architectural decisions pertaining to security best practices
- Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Cloud Formations and Terraform
- Develop reusable automation using Ansible
- Create processes and automation to harden AMI and Docker Container Images
- Write and review Kubernetes Network and Service Mesh policies to establish secure inner cluster perimeters
- Assist the Security Organization with research and development of tooling to shift security into CI/CD pipelines
- Develop and enhance Jenkins and CircleCI code for new and existing CI/CD pipelines
- Conduct research and development on new Cloud offerings across various platforms
- Prepare example code, best practice documentation, and processes to support application and SecOps teams
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years IT experience
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering or a related degree (or 3 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree)
- 2+ years working in Kubernetes environments including engineering deployment strategies, hardening the control plane and worker nodes, and implementing observability
- 2+ years developing in containerized environments
- 2+ years presenting technical solutions and organizing inter-team technical dependencies
- 4+ years in DevOps or DevSecOps roles, with hands-on experience in Ansible and Terraform
- 4+ years of Cloud Platform and Security Engineering experience working with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) including AWS Lambda, Docker, Kubernetes-related services, and cloud networking
- 2+ years in Security Engineering with proven experience in building and reviewing secure architectures
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong experience with Kubernetes and service mesh orchestration (e.g., Istio, Linkerd) in production environments
- Expertise in injecting security hardening and best practices into CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and configuration management tools
- Experience managing and deploying CI/CD tools and artifact repositories to support DevOps culture

- Compensation: Salary in the $150,000 - $165,000 range, benchmarked against role scope, market rate, and internal equity, plus the comprehensive benefits listed above
