Senior Linux Infrastructure Engineer (IaC) (San Francisco)

Position Overview

As a Senior Linux Infrastructure Engineer (IaC), you will build, automate, and maintain robust IT infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance through automation and modern DevOps practices. You will work closely with teams of software, research, and systems engineers in a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and creative problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Use programming and IaC tools to build highly automated and scalable Linux systems and cloud infrastructure.
• Design and implement components that are highly available and self-healing.
• Create comprehensive metrics, monitoring, dashboard, and alerting systems across the infrastructure.
• Implement systems and network security principles in all aspects of the environment.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure system uptime.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in Linux system administration, preferably within production environments.
• In-depth understanding of Linux fundamentals including filesystems, process scheduling, and virtual memory.
• Strong grasp of the TCP/IP network protocol and addressing.
• Proficiency in using APIs with Python, Golang, or an equivalent language.
• Experience with configuration management platforms (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Pulumi).
• Experience with metrics, monitoring, and visualization tools (Prometheus, Influx, Datadog).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Experience with containers and container orchestration.
• Basic familiarity with HPC cluster environments.

Benefits & Perks

• Compensation: Base salary ranging from $170,000 to $205,000, determined by factors including education, experience, and geography.
