Job Description

Position Overview

At Leidos, we deliver innovative solutions driven by our diverse and talented teams. We are seeking an Energy Engineer to provide technical reviews of energy efficiency projects and support energy-efficiency programs at large industrial and commercial facilities near Detroit, Michigan. This role requires excellent technical, communication, and organizational skills to develop and review custom energy savings estimates and to maintain strong customer and supplier relationships.

A valid driver’s license and the physical ability to perform field verification are required, along with the capacity to stay current on industry trends and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately calculate energy savings of various efficiency opportunities and communicate estimates to team members, customers, and vendors.
  • Review energy efficiency savings estimate calculations for accuracy.
  • Collaborate with facility managers, manufacturing engineers, and suppliers to obtain data for implementation of energy efficiency measures.
  • Evaluate energy-consuming systems and provide consultation on behalf of the utility energy efficiency program.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers and vendors to remain current with energy efficiency technologies and practices.
  • Deliver effective organization and clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform field verification before and after installation of energy efficiency measures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field with 4+ years of relevant experience in energy efficiency or energy management, or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience.
  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and the physical ability to perform field verification of energy efficiency measures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in industrial manufacturing environments, commercial retro-commissioning, or strategic energy management practices.
  • Experience in commercial building retro-commissioning is a plus.
