Provides expertise and analysis to managers and other employees within the department while ensuring all work is completed to the highest standard. Works with minimum supervision. The Investment Analyst is a key member of a small team of professionals in Toyota Tsusho America’s Corporate Development and Investment group. The individual in this role will help drive growth through investment, M&A, and other strategic initiatives while collaborating with existing divisions on market growth strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct feasibility analysis on important investment projects of all group companies from both financial and strategic standpoints.
- Evaluate the financial health of the company by analyzing Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement.
- Build strong relationships with key corporate functions such as finance, accounting, and legal departments.
- Serve as a liaison between TAI and counterpart departments in the parent company in Japan.
- Coordinate investment decisions in accordance with Toyota Tsusho group’s policy by reviewing all proposals for management approval.
- Support subsidiaries’ startup activities by guiding them to establish proper control processes and policies.
- Assist business divisions by providing guidance, reviewing notes, and ensuring the correct approval process is followed.
- Support deal execution activities, including due diligence, financial modeling, and valuation analysis while assisting cross-functional deal teams.
- Some business travel required.
- Supervisory responsibilities are expected.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting.
- Minimum of 6-10 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, business valuation, and budget control.
- Experience with financial modeling and a strong analytical ability.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, along with the initiative to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Willingness to travel throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico.
- Experience in the automotive industry is helpful; Big 4 experience is a plus but not required.
- Candidate who has or is working toward passing the CMA or CFA exam.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint. Proficiency with Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, Power Query, and Macros is necessary.
- Excellent business English writing and communication skills. Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing in Japanese.
